What is Generation Spark?

Generation Spark is a program focused on building authentic intergenerational relationships within churches by pairing young adults (typically ages 16-24) with older, spiritual mentors.

The main goals of Generation Spark are to foster a greater sense of belonging for young people in the church, encourage their continued involvement beyond high school, integrate new generations into the life and leadership of the church, and create meaningful connections between different age groups.

How does Generation Spark work?

Generation Spark guides churches through a process that includes recruiting mentors and mentees, pairing them up, and encouraging them to collaborate on a problem-solving project identified by the young adult. The mentees then often present their ideas or solutions to the church.

Is there a cost to participate in Generation Spark?

Generation Spark charges churches with 150 members or less $2000 for the year long cohort, which includes all its resources and an in person training. Churches with more than 150 members are charged an additional $500 for every 50 members. Generation Spark also offers

Who is Generation Spark for?

Generation Spark is designed for Christian churches and organizations that want to strengthen their intergenerational connections and better engage their young adults. The program involves both older adults (mentors, typically 45+) and young adults (mentees, typically 16-24).

How can a church get involved with Generation Spark?

Churches can schedule a call or email Generation Spark to learn more about the process and determine if it’s a good fit for their congregation. Generation Spark’s application runs year round but new cohorts of up to 20 congregations are accepted in September, with cohorts beginning in October.
